What to do:

Fishing, fishing, and more fishing! Located on the longest river in West Virginia, the Elk River, Bergoo is a fishing hot spot. Recently listed among the West Virginia DNR’s “favorite fishing waters,” the Elk River does not disappoint. If you aren’t the fishing type, maybe a nice hike up to the breathtaking Leatherwood Falls is more your style. The falls are located near the fork of the Leatherwood Creek and the Elk River in the heart of the Monongahela National Forest.

Where to stay:

Whether you’re looking for a more relaxed getaway or if you just need a place to sleep in between casts, Bergoo has the spot for you. Reserve the Elks River Retreat which is equipped with a covered porch, wood burning fireplace and hot tub. Bring the family as it sleeps 10-12 guests. Check out Homestead Acres Campground if you are looking for a more rustic stay! Located right along the Elk River, Homestead Acres has nightly and long-term leases available! Bergoo Creek Bait & Tackle Cabins are also a great spot for fishermen as they are located in walking distance of the Elk River.

Where to get supplies: 

Two of the best spots for outdoor gear, bait, and general convenience store items are the Bergoo Creek Bait and Tackle Store and S&R General Store, which is also your spot for gasoline. Both are conveniently located near points of the river so you don’t have to travel far for your supplies!

When to stay: 

Maybe you aren’t in search of a quiet vacation. Bergoo has you covered for exciting events as well! Labor Day weekend is the annual Bergoo Bash! This event is an ATV rider’s heaven. With a mud pit, poker run, horseshoe pitching competition, and live music this is an event you do not want to miss!
