The Carpenter Ants are a rhythm and blues group based in Charleston, WV, who’ve been making great music together for over 30 years. They play what they describe as “chicken­-fried gospel soul with lots of feel good harmonies and a solid groove.” Members are Michael Lipton, Charlie Tee, Ted Harrison, and Jupie Little. If you’ve heard the Ants before, you’ll understand why this group is a WV classic.  Special guest John Ellison joined the Soul Brothers Six in 1966 as lead singer, songwriter and guitarist.  Their first single on Atlantic Records, “Some Kind of Wonderful” reached #91 on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts.  Since that time, more than 60 artists have recorded the song, notably Grand Funk Railroad who had a Top 10 hit with the song in 1974.  Ellison has received five Lifetime Achievement awards for writing one of the most played songs in the world.
