Soldiers of the Cross, is a bluegrass gospel group from Buckhannon, WV. Soldiers of the Cross is a strictly gospel bluegrass group from Upshur County, known far and wide for their amazing four-part harmonies and their selection of both traditional and contemporary songs. Please Note: As planned, this Saturday will feature the acoustic Americana band 18 Strings from Morgantown; the WVWC Appalachian Ensemble will not be opening for them as the program has been discontinued. Come out for a great evening of covers and original tunes with the ever-entertaining Andy Tuck, along with mandolin master Chris Jones, vocalist extraordinaire Helen Jones, and most versatile bassist Greg Thurman. Norfolk & Southern at Jerry Run Summer Theater
Norfolk and Southern is another longtime favorite at JRST, and have closed the season for us for many years in a row. They are based in north central West Virginia and bring lots of veteran talent to their bluegrass repertoire, playing a crowd-pleasing mix of traditional, contemporary, gospel, and original material. Jerry Run United Methodist Church and community presents an old-fashioned Christmas Program on Saturday, Dec. 17, 7 pm, at Jerry Run UMC, on Rt. 20 between Hacker Valley. and Cleveland, with Pastor Gary Garden. Program includes a skit, "Christmas at the Poor Farm, Year 5" and a traditional nativity with scripture as well as congregational singing, readings and a candlelight conclusion. Free and everyone is welcome, however seating is limited.
