Come and celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Webster County Nature Tour with us! It was developed and is sponsored by the Webster Springs Garden Club, by a few Garden Club members taking a spring hike, years ago. Nature Tour was started in 1962 as a 1-day event and has grown into this special 3-day weekend. It takes place at Camp Caesar 4-H Camp on Rt.20 between Cowen and Webster Springs, West Virginia. Our guests will stay in the rustic log and cut-stone cabins surrounded by the beautiful hills of the Monongahela National Forest. The date of the Nature Tour is May 3, 4, & 5th 2024. Our tours are led by educated and experienced tour guides who, will show and teach you about the many beauties we have in our bountiful mountains. The tours range from very rugged to easy walking. Our choice of tours can change from year to year. The choice of tours this year is Elk Mountain, Bishop Knob, Back Fork, and the NEW Cranberry/Scenic Highway Tour.
We had to raise our prices of the Nature Tour 2024 because Camp Caesar raised their prices. The cost of our Complete Weekend is $160.00, which includes 2 nights lodging, 5 meals, your choice of tour and nightly program or entertainment. There will be a Meditation Walk and Bird Watch on Sunday morning. Without Lodging will be $105.00 which includes everything except for the 2 nights lodging. Tour and Bagged Lunch is $40.00. Tour Only will be $25.00.
Last year, we had a few complaints from Camp Caesar that not all of you took your bagged lunches. So, if you don’t plan to take the bagged lunch, please tell me on your reservation form. Also include any special requests (examples, need a refrigerator, allergic to a certain food or need a plug-in near your bed) on your reservation form. Please read your list of items you need to bring with you. Yes, everyone needs a good pair of hiking boots. We will have a Silent Auction set up in Cantral Hall during the Nature Tour. Make sure you have your bids in by dinnertime Saturday night. The winners will be announced Saturday night at Council Circle.
There will be an Educational Program on Friday evening at 7:00p.m. in Cantral Hall. Mike Hall from the WVU Extension Office will be the speaker. Mike’s presentation will be about Citizen Science. The Gauley Divide, a local bluegrass/country band featuring Kevin Cochran and friends will perform for us on Saturday evening at 7:00p.m. in the Council Circle. There will be room to dance around a small open bonfire. So, enjoy dancing a jig or two. Don’t miss the refreshments and the door prizes that follow.
You can start your Sunday morning out with a Bird Watch or a Meditation Walk and a cup of hot coffee. Then you can have a hearty breakfast before you say your good-byes to your friends new and old. When you have set out on your destinations, we will start to make our plans for the Webster County Nature Tour 2025.
