Book Reading: A Cup of Tea and Sweet Memories: Timeless Recipes and Heartfelt Inspirations

August 20 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Free
The Woodchopping and Timber Heritage Museum is hosting Author Deborah Gladwell on August 20, 2025 at 11:30AM!
Originally from the Catskill Mountains, she has called West Virginia home since 1970. Through her husband’s deep roots in Webster County, she’s come to feel a strong connection to this beautiful region—and to the stories, traditions, and families who shaped it. That spirit is woven throughout her cookbook, which blends cherished family recipes, soulful poetry, vintage photographs, and heartfelt reflections that celebrate the sacred rhythms of home.
In addition to stories from her own family, the book features a pictorial genealogy and short stories from her husband’s lineage, specifically Olive Cogar Gladwell and Everett Gladwell—names many in the community may recognize. It’s more than a cookbook; it’s a tribute to the people and places that make Webster County such a special part of Appalachia.
