THRUSDAY 6/15
- VERY FISHY @ 2:00 p.m.
- Learn the Parts of a fish, fold an origami fish, then feed baby trout in our trout rearing pond. Meet Naturalist in Old Pavilion. (YPP)
- INCREDIBLE JOURNEY @ 4:00 p.m.
- Become a water droplet as you move through all the places water can be on planet EARTH- A very active game. Learn while having fun in Windy Gap Schoolyard (YPP)(Old Pavilion if rainy)
FRIDAY 6/16
- REVERIE TRAIL HIKE @ 9:55 a.m.
- Join Naturalist Jane for a hike to Tecumseh Falls, return by way of the primitive camp area & Pickens Rd. Bring water, snack, and wear sturdy shoes. (2.5 miles for 3 hrs.) Meet on office porch by 9:55 a.m. Walking stick or trek poles useful.
- BUTTERFLIES & MOTHS
- To learn the subtle difference between these two beautiful flying insects, examine their antennae, their life cycles and longevity. Color one to take home! (YPP) Meet in Old Pavilion
- STREAM SEARCH for CREEK CRITTERS
- Learn the life cycle of insects who spend some years as swimmers, then mature into flying insects. Help us collect and identify them with nets and magnifying lenses. Wear shoes that can get wet. (YPP) Windy Gap Schoolyard down by the stream.
SUNDAY 6/18
- FATHER’S DAY SOFTBALL GAME @ 10:00 a.m.
- Meet at ball diamond past campground 4. Mitts, balls, and bats will be provided but feel free to bring your own! All ages are welcome to play, or watch. Bring water bottle for your thirst quenching.
YPP(Young People for Parks) encourages youth of ages 6-16 to go outdoors and explore nature in our state parks. Completion of 3 naturalist programs in one week will earn a certificate; completion of 5 YPP programs will earn a patch!
